Women and Migration

Africa e Mediterraneo n. 79 (2/13)

In 2012, migrant women were the 53.1% of total non-EU residents in Italy (Immigration Statistical Dossier IDOS / UNAR, 2013). At European level, migrant women accounted for 48.71% (Eurostat) of the total migration flux of 2011. These women are workers, students, professionals who use services, create relationships and negotiate their gender role between old and new identities. This dossier aims to analyse this complexity by combining theoretical research, scientific data on the dynamics of migration and experiences on the field.
